The appearance of a woman's eyebrows is often just as important as how well her makeup has been applied. Many women regularly visit a salon to have their eyebrows professionally shaped and arched to achieve a naturally beautiful look. Some ladies prefer to manage the shaping of their eyebrows at home, and they may use a variety of different methods to do so. However, for the best results, you may want to have one of the following inexpensive hair-removal services performed in a salon to ensure you are satisfied with how your eyebrows look.

Tweezing

At one time tweezing was the only method used to thin out and shape the eyebrows. Salon professionals were trained to have a steady hand so that just the right amount of hair was removed while they were tweezing the brows. This method is very precise and allows even the tiniest hairs to be removed.

However, tweezing is also somewhat time consuming and can be painful for those with sensitive skin. Tweezing the eyebrows may need to be done on a weekly basis to maintain a neat appearance.

Waxing

Waxing has become one of the most popular methods of hair removal in salons. This type of service is ideal for the eyebrows as well as other areas of the body. Waxing is done by spreading a thin layer of warm wax on the eyebrows and then using a strip of cloth to remove it.

Once the wax has cooled, the strip of cloth is quickly pulled off away from the direction the hair grows in. This method may be slightly painful, but redness and swelling can normally be relieved by applying a special cooling gel to the eyebrows after the waxing is done. Waxing the eyebrows is also a great way to achieve the arched shape that many women prefer and is normally repeated every few weeks.

Threading

Another form of facial-hair removal that is becoming very popular in salons is threading. This method is normally performed on small areas, such as the eyebrows, upper lip, and chin. This is done by using a piece of cotton thread to twist around the hair and quickly pull it out at the root.

Threading the eyebrows is less painful and time consuming than tweezing, and the results can last for a few weeks. However, this hair-removal method is not recommended for men because their facial hair is coarse, and so threading can cause men unwanted pain and irritation.

For more permanent hair removal, many salons also offer the option of having laser hair removal or electrolysis. However, these services may require several treatments to achieve permanent hair removal and can be very expensive.
